Since December 2017 there are trams in Luxembourg again. The first part of the new line runs over the busy Avenue J.F. Kennedy, where many European institutions are. A funicular at Pont Rouge provides a connection to the train that passes below the bridge in the valley. If the line is completed in 2021, it has a length of 16 kilometres. The trams are delivered by CAF. In the city centre there is no overhead line and is driven on batteries.
