What's Really behind this Most Luxurious Empty City? —Ashgabat

Hello everyone! Today, I’m taking you on a journey to explore one of the most mysterious cities in the world—Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, often referred to as the *Ghost City*. This city, although full of luxurious and modern architecture, carries an eerie emptiness. It’s a place where the grandeur of the buildings contrasts with the almost complete absence of people in the streets.

What makes Ashgabat strange is not only its emptiness but also the legacy of its former president, Saparmurat Niyazov, who imposed bizarre laws on the people. One of the most unbelievable laws was the ban on the use of dentures! Niyazov believed that people should chew on bones to strengthen their teeth rather than rely on artificial ones. Additionally, he banned lipsyncing on television and at events because he considered it insincere.

These strange rules created an oppressive atmosphere in daily life, making Ashgabat not only feel deserted but also full of unbelievable regulations. Although people still live here, the city feels as though it’s frozen in time, with life hidden away, unlike the bustling cities we are used to exploring. The silence that surrounds Ashgabat feels as if you're the only person left in a city of towering marble buildings.

My journey through this city has been unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Despite being inhabited, the daily life here is so hidden and silent that it’s hard to feel the pulse of the city.
