M9 Aotearoa

A groundbreaking hybrid of 'Ted Talks', a theatre show and a ‘micro’ conference, and designed to be accessible to all Aotearoa, M9 presents nine unique, juxtaposed Māori voices, each with a unique perspective in celebration of Matariki and Te Ao Māori.

Chelsea is an Oscarnominated producer and awardwinning director, who advocates for the voices of Māori and women on screen, also notched up another accolade when she was made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit on the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to Māori and the screen industry.

In 2020, she produced the reo version of Moana, and earlier this year released the reo version of The Lion King. A reo version of Frozen is also in the pipeline.

Winstanley joined a strong panel of wahine toa, at the M9 Matariki event at Auckland's Civic Theatre. She was one of nine wāhine Māori who spoke to her success and achievements, and inspired the next generation of young Māori.
