This technique will allow you to automatically place routes behind buildings and objects (i.e. trees, under bridges). No rotoscoping or manual masking really, its automatic!

In this video we will build a simple animation through Manhattan and with After Effect add a route and automatically mask appropriate 3D buildings with the route path. You'll be amazed it works.
