Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India. The temple is situated on the banks of the Shipra River and is surrounded by a beautiful and historic city. According to legend, Lord Shiva dwells in this Jyotirlinga in the form of a column of fire and is considered to be the guardian of the north direction. The temple complex is also home to other shrines and ghats, and is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus, especially during the month of Sawan (JulyAugust).
