Learn how to attract black soldier flies to your home compost bin so that you can collect the eggs and raise the larvae to produce a organic fertilizer that increases pest resistance in plants.

Black soldier fly larvae excel at breaking down food waste, so they are the perfect addition to any home composting system. They can handle food scraps that are typically difficult to compost like meat, dairy, and citrus. The fibrous material they can't eat (like leaves & stems of plants), as well as their frass (or poop) can also be fed to composting worms to produce vermicompost. The larvae are high in protein and super nutritious for many types of livestock, but can also be fed to many different pets. For every 1kg of larvae produced, you can expect up to 4kg of frass that can be used as an organic fertilizer in your garden or farm.
