Making a simple, strong (and cheap) box for Plein Air painting.
HOT NEWS! The full instructions as a PDF are now available to download here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/andyH1/e...
Firstly, thank you to everyone who watched, liked and commented on my previous video about my Plein Air box:    • Plein Air watercolour painting setup...
Following on from the questions and requests, here is a film of how to make your own box.
There are other methods out there but I saw that some set ups were either a bit flimsy or not easily transportable. Manufactured boxes can be bought but they tend to be a "one size fits all" type or are rather expensive (if you are on an artist's wage lol ).
Chapters:
00:00 Intro
01:10 The design of the box
02:53 The tripod support
04:22 The materials needed
06:32 Building the box
10:00 Making the template
13:55 Fitting the timber edging
15:15 adding the waterpot and brush holes
16:05 varnishing the box
17:00 The box closures
18:25 Fitting the box to the tripod
20:10 Conclusion

NEW FEATURE: If you have enjoyed this film and found it informative why not "buy me a coffee" as a reward for my time and efforts? https://www.buymeacoffee.com/andyH1
You will see that there is no sponsorship within the film, Andy makes these films solo and free from affiliation to share his days out on the landscape where he sketches and paints.
Thank you

For my version you require very little in the way of materials or skills and of course you adapt these ideas to make a box that exactly suits your needs.
The tripod which I use is: https://www.manfrotto.com/global/comp...
which you should be able to purchase locally to you. (I am not sponsored by manufacturers or suppliers so you can shop around for best prices etc) You can of course use other makes and models.
The 1/4" T nuts are available from hardware stores or online. https://www.amazon.co.uk/sourcingmap...
If you have an further questions about this box construction then do use the comments section below and I will reply to you as soon as possible.
