In this video I make the beautiful purple dye Azo Violet. This is done by an azo coupling of pnitroaniline and resorcinol, and is one of the final products in a long project I've been working on that began with the conversion of paminobenzoic acid to aniline.
The other final products of this project are para red, and possibly paracetamol (tylenol) if there is enough interest.
