Making a Game in a Week! [4/4]

Heya Pals!

This is the last in my series on the Brackeys Game Jam 2022.2 edition. Unfortunately couldn't get the game in a tight enough spot or submit in time to call this one a success. I worked really hard getting it there, but alas sometimes the concept is a bit too big and it's hard to find your way to the finish line.

I found with this jam it was quite deceptive to have an entire week (rather than 48 hours) and noticed I didn't prioritise my time as best I could. It's not obvious in the edits here but a lot of time was spent fiddling with fine tuning logic for NPC behaviours that never felt quite right. The action elements definitely got in the way of the concept, despite being the most fun to develop.

As I mention in the video, I think either a simple arena game or even something more gridbased from a worldmap view would have been a bit simpler. Oh well, next time! Thanks everyone for watching, more Pixel Art Class videos coming very soon
