Making a Leather Wine Rack

Leather is great for making wallets and bags, but it's also a great material for making household items as well! We made this leather wine rack to hold three bottles of wine, hanging from hooks you can install almost anywhere. We used a combination of 5 and 8oz natural vegetable tanned leather that we oiled for protection, and we hand sewed the leather wine rack with polyester thread and a saddle stitch.

To add more strength in our leather wine rack, we used solid bras rivets that we set at pressure points in the wine rack to prevent stretching. We used solid brass O rings to hang the DIY wine rack on the hooks to finish off the allbrass look.

When you're making a DIY leather wine rack, just be careful of weight wine bottles can get heavy, so you probably don't want to make a leather wine rack that holds more than 3 or 4 bottles you can always make multiple wine racks though!
