Making a Shake Pen from Stainless Steel - Handmade Ballpoint Pen With Shake Mechanism

Follow
We Can Do That Better

Last year I stumbled across a so called shake mechanism for ballpoint pens. I found that little thing rather interesting and by the end of last year I started to built my own version of a „Shake Pen“.
I really didn‘t expected this project to be so challenging and take me a few months and so many tries. A lot of trial and error and dozens of testpieces were made to find the right dimensions, materials, techniques and order of operations to finally get both a working Shake Pen and a product with pleasantly finish.
Despite it‘s simple appearance, a lot of different techniques were used to built the pen including basic turning and milling, deepholedrilling, sheet metal bending, electro etching. Especially etching the little symbol to the pens clip was a long journey to get to a satisfying result in the end as it was the first time I experimented with this really cool technique. It's definitely not the last time I used it.

I really hope you enjoy this built even if it is a little bit different as the usual content here on the channel.
