I further chlorinated my final product that you see here to BP of ~205°C.
Density after chlorination was 1.225 g/cm3
I destilled this yet again, initially I got quite clear liquid, some yellow got transfered over when BP was around 210 220°C. This fraction had also only slight aromatic smell!
Density after destilation was 1.2 g/cm3

I also forgot to take into account, that another product we get is benzotrichloride, this has higher density and BP. Ratio of these 3 chlorides is unknown to me. It should show up fairly well after hydrolysis step by presence of benzoic acid. It would be definitely easier, if there was no benzyl chloride present.
