Now, I know that virtual instruments are far from new, but they are all quite new to me! Of course I've dabbled here and there, but that was mostly with terrible and cheap general MIDI boxes and the like. Companies like Spitfire Audio have been putting out low priced and, in the case of LABS, free virtual instruments and they sound brilliant. I'd been long wanting a good quality piano and string ensemble sound, so I knew I'd have to try them again. I'm really glad I did.

This piece was made with the Synth Pad 3 on a single track with some heavy Valhalla Room Reverb. Distortion (stock Ableton effect) is slowly added toward the end. Two tracks of the Peel Guitar are also used, played through Valhalla Delay set to tape starting with some mid level degradation. A very short, quick Tape delay and some Room Reverb were added to this track to lend space and organic texture.

Everything was performed on the Novation Circuit. A mix of unquantized sequencing and, in the case of drums, live playing. I did this as I wanted a real, raw, organic feel to compliment the similar feel and sounds of the LABS instruments.

Again, as always, questions and comments are welcomed below. I'm very responsive and I love talking about this stuff. I
