In 2004, the Malawi Government borrowed $32 million (about K23 billion) from the Kuwait Fund to construct the ZombaJaliPhalombeChitakale Road. Construction of the 105 km road started in 2008, but by 2015, the cumulative loan for the project had almost doubled to $60.5 million (about K43.5 billion). By the time we produced this report in 2017, over 10 years had elapsed and the road remained uncompleted. In this blockbuster documentary, we expose the burden the government has imposed on Malawians by borrowing money to construct the road project that remains a mystery.
