Mammography in Women with Breast Implants

Dr. Samantha Kubaska discusses how radiologists perform mammograms on women with breast implants and why women with breast implants shouldn’t avoid breast cancer screenings.

In a standard mammogram, radiologists take two images of a woman’s breast. For women with breast implants, radiologists take four pictures. The first two will include the implant. For the second two, the radiologist will push the implant out of the way, so they can see as much of the breast tissue as possible. Breastlink screens women with breast implants every day and recommends women with breast implants come in for mammograms just as often as women who don't have them.
