General Zod demands humanity give him Superman, who decides his only way to save the planet is to surrender.

In MAN OF STEEL, an extraterrestrial infant is rescued from his dying planet and sent to Earth to coexist with humanity. However, his tranquility is jeopardized when fellow survivors from his home world launch an invasion, endangering both his adopted home and his newfound identity.
