Marble Geode Cake Tutorial!

Hope you all enjoy this easy way to make a #Geode cake!

Geode cake:

• 8” crumb coated cake
• 1.5kg sugar paste
• 200g buttercream
• Purple paste food colouring
• 200g glacier mints
• 1 tbsp. Apricot jam
• Gold brush pen

1. Brush your crumbcoated cake with apricot jam.
2. Marble your sugar paste by colouring pieces in a couple of shades of grey and then twisting the colours together with white sugar paste to create a marble effect.
3. Roll out the sugar paste into a large round circle big enough to cover your cake.
4. Cover cake neatly using a cake smoother to smooth out any lumps and bumps.
5. Carve out your crevice using a sharp knife.
6. Bash up your glacier mints into large shards using a zip seal bag and a rolling pin.
7. Coat your cake crevice with buttercream and then start adding glacier mints working from the inside out.
8. Using a gold brush pen carefully paint along the outline of your crevice.
9. Now using a small paintbrush slightly water down your food colouring and paint your glacier mints. Work your way from the inside out keeping the centre fairly dark and gradually getting lighter at the edge.
