March Brown Nymph

Fulling Mill Fly Fishing

The March Brown Nymph is one of the most widespread and catching nymphs in the world of fly fishing. Personally, it has always given me a lot of satisfaction. Quick and easy to tie, it can serve as an imitation for many different mayflies. In Italy it is particularly suitable for imitating the Ecdyonurus Venisus.

I use it everywhere, from the fast waters of the mountain streams to the calmer ones of the rivers in the valley. I build it in different variations and colors, with beads to make it drop quickly, or without to fish in the upper water column.

In this case I use an FM 1130 size 12 grub hook which I think is perfect to give the real shape of the larva. The bead is 3.2 tungsten, the body in hares ear, the rib with ultra wire gold, the thorax in red rabbit hair for give a small hot spot to the fly, brown partridge for the legs, and finally darker natural hare hair to close the head. Try it on various sizes, weights and colors.

If you need anything I am ready to help you. The assembly video of this fly is already updated to the share file with some other photos of flies.
