Marilyn Monroe's Historic Brentwood Home Saved From Demolition

Marilyn Monroe's historic former Brentwood home was on the brink of demolition before officially becoming a HistoricCultural Monument. The current owners, who bought the home for $8.35 million last year, were set to tear down the estate until the L.A. City Council unanimously voted to save it. Monroe, an iconic figure of Hollywood's Golden Age, died in the home on August 4, 1962, due to a barbiturate overdose. The owners plan to fight the city over the ruling, but for now, the famed estate remains preserved.
