Probably one if the best mkds texture hacks of Rainbow Road I've ever done!
Taking 2 and 1/2 years to make! (read story for details)

Music and count down was added via video editing and will not play in the game. this is also my first true 4k 60fps video ive posted. somehow rendered on a i7 surface pro 2017 XD

(The Story)
I got an interesting story to go along with it too. two and a half years ago in mid 2015 i began work on this texture hack took me 3 days to get it to a a point that it could have been released but then i decided to do something innovative.

I wanted to double and triple the textures resolution in the sky box model (the background of the course) so after talking to some people on dshack.org i found there was a way using mkcm so i tried it. and it worked! except for one problem all the bill boarded faces (buildings) on the model were wiped out and not working (no longer rotating to always face the camera) i asked a few friends to help but kept running to to dead ends so i shelved it for a week to come back to it later. unfortunately i over watch a drama based show on TV and that threw me in to depression for 3 weeks
(that's another long story)

After i got over the depression i thought about going back to finishing the texture hack but since i had just come off of the depression i didn't want to work on it anymore knowing there wasn't anything i could do. i was still unstable and didn't want to get depressed again due to failure of try to get the textures to work. so it was shelved till a year later.

A year later i dug it up and asked Ermelber, Tomix, and Darktone on dshack.org if they could get it working. Ermelber came the closest but still no dice. it got shelved again.

8 months later i tried again this time with SGC and Rover more friends of mine from dshack but still no luck and it got shelved again and again and again till finally in December 2017. i got so sick of running in to dead ends. i finally said screw it took out the building polys in blender and added objects with good draw distant in place of the original poly buildings.

It was finally done! well almost, i fine tuned my hack by tweaking the rainbow road model in a hex editor to remove transparency on the road and even creating a few textures from scratch and also being lazy i finally got it released. so yeah that took awhile... ive got another one on the way and i promise i wont take as long lol.

This hack maxes out the ds ram and cpu it works on hardware and emulators.

The background textures are massive for a ds being 512x256 and 256x256 normal resolution for a ds game is 128x128 and below normally.

Alot of the texture are from f zero GX mute city some textures had to be made from scratch. and some textures are from streets of rage and sonic 2. there only one texture from mkds here and it was modified to have more buildings in the background.

So in a way this almost became a custom track.
