What a year. 2020 is history from now on. In terms of YouTube, however, not much has happened on this channel this year. With the scheduled livestreams on this channel, it looked rather quiet this year. And the "Mario Kart Wii 2020 Recap" video I had previously planned was finally kicked into the ground due to too much recording material which I recorded this year and the resulting lack of clarity. So instead of that, here's this video. :P Anyway, I was able to pursue a goal for this year and let it come true. In June this year I replaced the broken disc drive of my Wii console with a new one. This 3hour process I have also recorded on video, but the recording has not yet been published (and very likely will not do so in the future). This particular year 2020, which is marked by the pandemic, has also been reflected in the Mario Kart Wii scene. In April 2020, a maximum number of almost 700 players were registered in Mario Kart Wii Online at one time (source: https://wiimmfi.de/stats/login/game/1.... This is the highest number recorded so far by Wiimmfi since the launch in 2014. The server had to be increased due to this situation, as Wiimmfi previously only supported 500 clients at a time. The limit has been raised and is now 1,000 clients that can connect to the Wiimmfi server at once. In the same breath, "UPnP" and a newly encoded NATNEG server were introduced to the game. A method to make player connections faster, more stable and more accurate (source: Leseratte/Wiimmfi moderator). There have never been added so many features and modifications as this year for Mario Kart Wii. Hopefully that will continue for 2021 and later, even if this year was different than the years before.
