Mario's French voice is objectively better | A comparison

This comparison video between the French dub of "Super Mario Bros. The Movie", and its original American English audio.

In the French dub, Mario is voiced by Pierre Tessier, who has practiced dubbing in several hundred movies and shows since the early 2000s. He is most notably the recurring "French voice" of Ryan Reynolds.

In the American version, Mario is voiced by Chris Pratt, who so far has had about ten voice acting roles, and is most notably known for portraying StarLord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This video aims to show the difference in the acting, intonation, and ressemblance to Charle Martinet's (Mario's original voice actor) voice.

In general, Pierre Tessier's acting tends to have a more spread out intonation (the voice hits higher and lower notes, which is notable, because French is usually more monotone than English on that regard), and is closer to Mario's original voice.

Chris Pratt's Mario, on the other hand sounds slightly younger, and the emotion is expressed more through the animation rather than through his voice.

I personally wouldn't call Chris Pratt's acting "bad". It certainly isn't shocking or distracting throughout the movie, but when compared to Pierre Tessier's acting, it definitely lacks a certain expertise.
