The Maroon Bells are one of the most iconic mountain ranges in the U.S. Towering above Aspen, Colorado, Maroon Peak lures hikers and climbers to its summit with its majestic yet harrowing beauty. The hike to the summit of Maroon Peak is tough while only about 11 miles, the steep terrain, class 3 climbing, and endless routefinding along the loose and crumbling rock of the ridge makes it one of the hardest and certainly one of the deadliest 14ers in Colorado (Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak alternate with Longs Peak as the deadliest mountains in Colorado every year). While it may be "dicey", it was absolutely one of our favorite hiking adventures to date!
