Renée Paradis is an elections attorney living in Oakland, California, where she works as Associate General Counsel for the Working Families Party. She is currently serving as a member of DSA’s National Political Committee, the organization’s elected leadership body. A DSA member since 2017, she was a founding leader of the Socialist Majority Caucus. She also helped build and launch CADSA and served as one of its inaugural cochairs. She has provided legal counsel for numerous progressive and socialist campaigns and candidates, including the Bernie 2016 primary campaign, Alexandria OcasioCortez, and most recently Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush, as well as Listen to Michigan, the political committee behind the Michigan “Uncommitted” campaign, and for Democratic general election candidates such as Barack Obama and Harry Reid.

Bennett Carpenter is a queer Southern trainer, organizer and movement strategist and a member of the National Executive Committee of Liberation Road. As Lead Organizer at Durham For All, they helped build a memberdriven IPO that successfully elected movement candidates and worked with them to implement transformative policies around participatory budgeting and communitybased alternatives to policing. Since then they have trained hundreds of people to organize, run for office, and step into other leadership roles rooted in a shared cogovernance strategy. Bennett holds a PhD from Duke University, where they were a founding member of the Duke Graduate Student Union (Local 27, SEIU Southern Region). Their dissertation (“Lumpen: Vagrancies of a Concept from Marx to Fanon… and on”) explored questions of political subjectification at the intersection of socialist, feminist, and Black radical thought.
