Her idea was to have a famous person speak at a hotel in Portland, Oregon where she would then invite the participants sign up for future seminars and learnings.

She invited Dr. Wayne Dyer to speak at the seminar and after speaking with his assistant and being told his fee was $15,000, she felt that she couldn’t come up with the money. So Mary took some time, listened to Dr. Dyer's own tapes, called back and told the assistant that she refused to believe that this was not possible. After some time and persistence, Mary got Dr. Wayne Dyer to come speak at the event :)
