In this video I'll show you how to use masking tape as an actual mask, to preserve highlights and make the painting process easier and possibly more fun.

A couple of notes:

1. This is more timeconsuming than simply painting, which is why I don't do this very often.

2. A few alternatives to this could be using opaque paint straight out of the tube to bring back highlights, or alternatively to use masking FLUID, which I'm also not big fan of.

3. The real magic with masking, is that it allows you to bring out the best in watercolor wet in wet and fluidity that is sometimes hard to achieve while having to worry about preserving highlights.
