For any type of rib pain, or pain that seems to be related to posture, I try to work broadly and comprehensively with the thoracic region. I drag wide swaths of tissue, following the contours of the ribcage, sometimes allowing contact with the intercostals. Keep in mind that these muscles are thin and ribbonlike, and that too much pinpoint contact or trigger point work can be potentially irritating.
