In this masterclass, we will explore the topic of data spaces and their contribution to promote data sharing and create new possibilities to apply technologies such as AI and Machine Learning.

To start, what is a data space? It’s a digital ecosystem where diverse actors share data in a voluntary and secure manner, following common governance, organizational, regulatory and technical mechanisms. They enable a trusted environment between these actors, allowing them not just to control access to their data, but also control in which such data is stored, processed and used.

These data spaces are seen as a key part of the data economy vision (projected to become 4% of the Spanish GDP by 2025), and as such, the EU and its member states, including Spain, are investing heavily in these infrastructures for strategic sectors, such as industry, health, mobility and tourism.
