Law 44 from Robert Greene's "The 48 Laws of Power," titled "Disarm and Infuriate with the Mirror Effect," advises individuals to employ the mirror effect as a strategic tool in conflicts. By reflecting and magnifying the behavior or tactics of an adversary back onto them, one can disarm and provoke them, causing confusion or frustration. A mirror is important as it helps to reflect the reality that exists around the world. It can, however, be used as a reliable tool for deception. Where a person mirrors his enemies, he needs to do exactly what they do (Greene 376). The situation will, thus, confuse them and stop them from determining the strategy of the person. The mirroreffect has a chance of humiliating people and make them overreact and, thus become weak. From the process, the person has a chance to win against the enemies. A story is given about Napoleon in 1815 where he had to rely on the behavior of Fouche who was a minister in his government (Greene 377). Through looking into the actions of the minister, he had the chance to engage in actions that bore a high likelihood to enable him to maintain a high sense of leadership.
