We bring you sightseeing spots, local gourmet foods, and delicacies in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, which we visited during our ANA SFC training.
　In the center of Matsuyama City, you will find the main shopping street, Okaido Street, where you will find Roken Manto, a store specializing in mandarin oranges, and the former site of Kiraku; Matsuyama Ginten Street, where you will find the soul food Nabeyaki Udon Kotori and Asahi's are close by; and Matsuyama Mitsukoshi.
　Local gourmet food can be enjoyed in the Matsuyama Ropeway Shopping Arcade and Dogo Shopping Arcade. Particularly famous are the local cuisine Kado Yaya and Akiyoshi's tai meshi (sea bream rice). Matsuyama Age and Iyo Miso.
　Matsuyama Castle is also a famous sightseeing spot, and visitors can take a ropeway or a list to reach the castle tower. You will often see the mascot characters Yoshiakikun and Mikyan. From Matsuyama Castle we had a wonderful view of the city of Matsuyama.
　Dogo Hot Spring is one of the three oldest hot springs in Japan and famous for Soseki Natsume's Botchan. The Iyo Railway's streetcars are SLstyle and remind us of old Japanese culture. We visited Karakuri Clock, Dogo Hot Springs Main Building, Tsubaki no Yu, and Dogo Hot Spring Station, and soaked in the footbath on the Sky Walkway while enjoying the view of Dogo Hot Spring townscape below. The Iyo miso soup with Matsuyamaage and Kiyomi tangole were delicious.
　In the evening, we had taimeshi and satsumameshi from Kadoya, which were excellent and super tasty.
　The last place we visited was Bar Sheyla, where we were introduced to the owner who quit his job more than 20 years ago to wander around the world, visiting 80 countries. Over drinks, we had so much fun that we lost track of time talking about our love of travel. The master of this bar sometimes visits schools and gives realistic lectures about international and global issues.
