This is my second video about mechanisms and is aimed at GCSE students studying DT and Engineering. It looks at linkages, crank slider mechanisms, the bell crank and cams and followers. It might be useful if students watched Mechanical Devices 1 first so that they are familiar with the 4 types of motion, as these are referenced in this video. In addition to learning the theory behind the mechanisms covered, my hope is that students will also benefit from seeing the models and maybe trying some ideas out themselves using card. My next mechanisms video will look at belt and pulley mechanisms and also gears.
