Halloween is next week, and we are continuing our look at some of the iconic symbols of the holiday. Scarecrows, crows and ravens are a common staple of Halloween décor. Did you know the Emerson Children’s Zoo is home to an American crow? Layla lives in the interactive Farm Play Area of the Children’s Zoo. Crows are highly intelligent animals and great problem solvers, but they can also be quite the tricksters by hiding some of their favorite treats from other crows. At the Zoo, Layla is involved in a training program to encourage her natural behaviors and her curiosity to learn.
