She lives in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with her husband John, who is a Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

She takes great joy in researching fibers and knitting techniques and also in learning about the culture and history of knitting, particularly in Scandinavian countries, Iceland, and the United Kingdom. She uses her online presence in the Ravelry community (screen name "heyKerrianne") to try to assist others and inspire them with their knitting projects and techniques.
