On May 17th, 1943, the crew of the Memphis Belle completed their 25th and final mission of the war. Hollywood film maker, William Wyler had been flying with the crew of the Memphis Belle and other B17's from the 91st BG for a period of weeks to make a wartime documentary above the daylight missions the 8th USAAF was flying. The Memphis Belle and her crew would become the focus for Wyler's work. Memphis Belle A Story of a Flying Fortress was released to audiences across the United States in 1944.
