My mental health has often got in the way of my ambitions. However, by studying with The Open University, I have been able to study from home in my own time. The flexibility of The Open University has allowed me to balance studying with looking after my mental health and in doing so, I have been able to progress and be successful, despite my ongoing mental health challenges.

Studying with The Open University is something I recommend to everyone who needs a more flexible approach to learning. The student support team at The Open University have been incredibly supportive, with my fluctuating mental health, my needing time off for the surgical part of my gender transition, and more recently with my mum's ill health.

More Info About My Student Life

I started studying with The Open University in 2012 and am due to graduate in 2020. Initially, I began a BA Hons Psychology Degree but have since switched over to an Open Degree. The Open degree has allowed me to take a standalone module in Creative Writing, to compliment my new career path.

I am also an Open University Ambassador. I share my story of studying alongside mental health challenges, to inspire and encourage people whatever their own personal challenges, to start their own journey.
