The tyrannical Prince John, aided by the cunning and sycophantic adviser Sir Hiss and the cruel Sheriff of Nottingham, assumes the throne of England when the brave King Richard the Lionheart sets out on the Crusades. Exploiting the people with heavy taxation and death sentences, he forces expert archer Robin Hood and his strong friend Little John to become outlaws, hiding in Sherwood Forest while stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Prince John sets several traps for Robin Hood, involving his ally Friar Tuck and his beloved Lady Marian, forcing the hero to use all his bravery and cunning to free himself and continue to help the poor until King Richard returns.
