Southern Television began broadcasting in the South and SouthEast regions of England on 30th August 1958, and became the 9th IBA franchise to go on the air. It got replaced by Television South on 1st January 1982, which also got replaced 11 years later by Meridian Television. They lost their onair identity on 27th October 2002. Since 2004, it became a nameonly unit of ITV and is now shown onscreen as ITV.
