People keep opposing the caste reservations by saying that they are not conducive to merit. People often make a case for reservations to be given only to the economically weaker sections of society regardless of their caste.

I examine the logic behind the reservations and some basic points about the provision that people from the socalled "forward castes" fail to understand.
