Hi and welcome to East Coast Sailing. In todays episode we released 3 bottles with messages into the North Sea. Each bottle also contained £10 so the lucky finders get to have lunch on us. The bottles were released on the 12th of February 2024 so hopefully we get a response in our lifetime. Some news paper articles have shown bottles being found up to 101 years after being put in the sea. It was a beautiful calm and unusually hot day considering its winter in the UK. There was hardly any wind as we motored out under engine. We release the 3 bottles on the edge of the River Black water where it meets the North Sea at 1pm just before high tide. As the tide turned the bottles would be carried out to sea where they would begin their onward journey until they were found. We launched each bottle about 1/4 of a mile form each other. These small changes had the potential to alter the bottles course by 100's if not 1000's of miles. The boat also took on water and luckily made it back without sinking.
