The War of 1971. between India and Pakistan brought the expected clash between two iconic Cold War era fighters F104 Starfighter and MIG21. The latter heavily outnumbered the former and Pakistanis remained mostly on the defensive. Furthermore, majority of F104 examples they operated during the conflict were on load from Jordan and they could only fly in Pakistani airspace. Two such borrowed Starfighters were flying a CAP sortie when ground control informed them of an Indian group approaching them. Two of their latest MiG21s were escorting four Maruts. Starfitghters turned to intercept the intruders.
DCS World again proves as a suitable platform for Cold War era aviation historical reenactments.
