The war drama "Military Scouts" produced by the Kyiv Film Studio of Feature Films named after Alexander Dovzhenko was released in 1968 and reveals one of the episodes of World War II.

The film is based on real events, in which one of the actors was himself a scout during the war. The commander of the reconnaissance detachment of the Danube flotilla Viktor Kalganov, nicknamed "Beard", acted as a consultant to the creators of the film. The command set the task for a group of Soviet scouts to find a map at any cost, which marked the mined territory of the Danube. The onscreen territory of Romania (the waters of the Danube) was filmed in Kaliningrad and Riga. The Pregolya River became the Danube.
