Finally, after its visiting the Twin Ports three times since its renovation in 2012, I've caught #261, one of the several Northerns in working order in the US. At the time of filming #261 was the largest running steam locomotive in the US.
Clip one is shot from the N 21st St viaduct on June 4th as #261 creeps along Superior Yard in the rain. Clip two is shot from Winter St as #261, now Minneapolisbound, grinds slowly and cautiously amid the spectators as a severe thunderstorm is in pursuit. It really was amazing to see such a huge steam locomotive run in person without the assistance of a diesel.
