This version is composed of 6 separate 90degree axisoriented perspectives. As with the original video, each perspective is composed of 6 separately recorded sections. So this video is the culmination of 36 recordings, totalling over 120 hours of rendering.

I highly recommend you view this on a smartphone or a tablet, desktop browser support for 360° is kinda dopey.

All downloads are 90 FPS cube maps, which is the original projection they were filmed in, so they're much higher quality than the Sphere map. The resolution in the file names refers to the square resolution for each tile. For example, "960p90" is 960x3 pixels across, 960x2 pixels tall, or 2880x1920.

The "1440p90" version is gigantic and is mostly for archival purposes, I cannot play it back on my machine and I don't recommend you try to.

You will probably need to install KLite to get Whirligig to properly play video files:

Otherwise playback is pretty simple, just launch one of the Whirligig executables and you should be good to go.

Each tile was recorded at 3200x3200 resolution, with an FOV of 87.32°, and then cropped to 2880x2880. The overdraw was to minimize screenspace edge artifacts for the water reflections. 87.32° FOV comes out to exactly 90° after factoring in the flyingFOVincrease and the video crop.

The cubemap was reprojected into a spheremap in Cinema 4D using Vray for C4D.
