Today we archive a game that is very hard to come by these days. Telltale Games developed a whole bunch of adventure games that were huge hits like The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us. But many forget that they also developed a fully voiced Story Mode for the megahit known as Minecraft.
I was able to get the game for the Xbox 360 and was finally able to experience this adventure myself and archive it for the future generation to witness. The game is surprisingly engaging with loveable characters and even some emotional moments. I might have even teared up at a certain scene.
In Minecraft Story Mode we follow Jesse and his friends who set out on an epic adventure to save the world. A huge monster known as the Wither Storm is slowly devouring the world and we have to bundle all our forces together in order to beat them. During our journey we will face many creepers, avoid hordes of zombies and of course craft plenty of buildings and items.
It plays like most other Telltale games where you walk around and interact with other characters and items from the enviroment. They gave it a nice Minecraft twist by having you craft certain items as particular points in the game. What is really cool is that you often have multiple options of things to craft to make it feel more distinct and unique to your playthrough.
The voice acting is great and the overal atmosphere was just fantastic with vibrant and colorful worlds. I think because regular Minecraft does not have a paritlcar storyline, the developers at Telltale could have much more freedom to do with the story compared to their other titles. There were plenty of surprising twists and turns and I was honestly so surprised how much I enjoyed this game. It's not as amazing as The Walking Dead season 1 or The Wolf Among us, but I think it still deserves a spot in the top 5 of Telltale games.
