The 2024 Mini Countryman represents the third generation of the iconic British brand's first SUV model. While small in size, the Countryman has grown over the years, to the point that it's now a segmentstraddler. Either way, it's once again mechanically related to the BMW X1, although competition also comes in the form of the Lexus UX, Volvo XC40 and Audi Q3.
So, what's changed with the Countryman? Well, it still looks like a Mini, but the exterior design has been further modernised, but the big leaps have been saved for the interior, which impresses with its selection of diverse materials and industryfirst circular OLED touchscreen multimedia system.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Richard Berry gets behind the wheel of the Countryman's petrolpowered flagship, the familiar S. It's powered by a 150kW/300Nm 2.0litre turbopetrol fourcylinder engine with a sevenspeed dualclutch automatic transmission.
