MinimumRC - Retractable Landing Gear Inspection

Follow
Doggeslife

Designed for ultramicrolight aircraft less than 30 grams like the MinimumRC P51 Mustang. With a base smaller than a U.S. dime, this is as tiny as it gets for a commercially available retractable landing gear.

The geometry of the slots in the base and the swingarm allow the latter to lock in place when extended. In this video I demonstrate the operation using a piece of 0.8mm music wire.

The design is configured for external mounting on the surface instead of internal within a wing cavity as is typical. As such, the landing gear hardware and wheels will always be out in the airstream even when retracted. Made for wings too thin to enclose the wheels.

See the MinimumRC.com website for more info. They set the gear set alone but also offer some aircraft with the retracts preinstalled.

Happy flying!
