Miranda do Douro is a land of centuriesold traditions, of natural borders built on water and of timeless customs rooted in Portuguese culture. Located at the easternmost point of Portugal, northeast of TrásOsMontes, it is one of the twelve municipalities that make up the district of Bragança. Its ancient Cathedral is the largest temple in the TrásosMontes region since the Council of Trent and houses one of the best Mannerist altarpieces in the entire Iberian peninsula.
