I wanted to share a time lapse video of a painting I just completed. The title is: “Go Forward With Faith.”

I love and respect all religions and beliefs.
In my church, at the age of 18, youth can choose to serve a mission for a couple of years. It’s a period of time where they get called to an area somewhere around the world, and leave home to spread the Gospel to those willing to receive it, and who are looking for peace and joy in their lives. It’s not easy, and sometimes requires that the missionaries learn a different language, and even another culture. They serve with a companion, and work long hours each day serving the Lord.

I love a talk that the late, Gordon B. Hinckley (a prophet of our church), gave years ago about when he was struggling on his mission when he was young. He reached out to his father complaining about how hard it was, and wanted to go home, but his father sent back a letter to him saying, “Gordon, forget yourself and go to work”.

This painting depicts just that. These two young men (missionary companions), are diligently serving the Lord. They are moving forward toward the light, and in turn, bringing light to all those with whom they teach.

This painting applies to everyone, (not just missionaries). Whenever you have a difficult trial or struggle in life, if you have faith and move toward the light, things do get better and you feel an overwhelming sense of peace and joy.

The missionary on the left, was a missionary currently serving in my neighborhood at the time, and the missionary on the right, is actually my own son who modeled for me!

My painting is approximately 24”x36” in size, and was done with oils on canvas. It took nearly 100 hours to complete (condensed down to just over 15 minutes in my time lapse video). I worked many days/months to complete it, but it was worth the hard work and effort!
