MLB 2K11 (PS3) Exhibition: Rangers vs Dodgers

MLB 2K813 was my era. I played them on 360, I had some on Wii, and had the last one sneak into a NBA 2K13 double pack when I started building up a PS3 collection a few Christmases ago. I gleaned too late that The Show was more polished and revered among fans. 2013 was close to when I finally got hands on it on the Vita, in time for the demise of 2K. We'll record all of them down the road on this new laptop or my physical PS3.

2K11, like its before and afters, was imperfect on the field. Balls warping into the glove was a common occurrence that we overlooked (NBA is liable for this too). Movement overall is somewhat jagged. Graphics were amazing in 2011 but with today's lens they look goofy. As I've mentioned onfield components are not held to the same standard as mode depth. It pretty much starts and ends with general managing a team for me. Dynamic Player Rating System was introduced to visually designate who was trending up/down in a season or their career. The star scale made it clear who was going to have skyhigh potential. I remember my brother and his friends joining in on fantasy drafts as we had in NBA 2K1011. I was running a Phillies franchise on Operation Sports https://forums.operationsports.com/ph... and writing better than I do 13 years later. This may have been the same file where I drafted a third basemen initialed G.G. who looked like Mike Fontenot(?) I was also hard at work compiling all of the fake names with each roster update https://forums.operationsports.com/fo... and studying stances and deliveries intently https://forums.operationsports.com/fo... 2K apparently read the thread and applied our suggestions. Credit to grandfather of roster releases mkharsh33. He was very responsive in the OS community even though we asked a lot out of him. https://forums.operationsports.com/fo... I was surprised to read on reddit he was still active making retro rosters on The Show as recent as 2021 according to his son. Hours passing toiling away were enhanced by a rocking song list. "You Should Learn" is peak 2K11, "AntiVenom" by USS I reckon is a close 2nd. They set the tone of the game not the most recognizable though it's our diamond. On the commentary side it's a treat hearing Kruk outside of Phillies telecasts.

Speaking of the 2011 Phillies, the best team I've seen that didn't win it, Roy Halladay is on the cover. ❤ I chronicled my feelings about them exhaustively on OS randomly in 2015 https://forums.operationsports.com/ph... LA gets the nod here as NL representative. 2011 was a downturn a year out from the massive Boston money exchange in August 2012. Texas rode Wild Card momentum to the World Series but the fire went out against the Cardinals, who had already taken out Philly in five.
