Despite popular opinion that for years has declared the MMO genre dead, I disagree. I want to spotlight some of the stalwart games of the genre, some old, like Everquest, some newer like Final Fantasy XIV and even Lost Ark that demonstrate the genre isn't dead, not by a long shot.

While we may not be seeing triple AAA MMORPGs with as much frequency, that doesn't mean there's necessarily a lack of investment in the genre either. Upcoming MMOs from NCSOFT and Riot show that there's still appetite and that doesn't even begin to cover crowdfunded gems like Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen and Ashes of Creation.
